Executive Summary

2021年俄亥俄州可持续性 & 气候行动计划是未来5年迈向碳中和和校长碳承诺(前身为美国学院和大学校长气候承诺)学术要求的路线图，以及俄亥俄州“加强大学作为可持续性前沿实验室的国家地位”的战略优先事项.“该计划要求大学达到2011年可持续发展计划和2012年气候行动计划所包含的新目标. 

To streamline external reporting and facilitate national recognition, 该计划与高等教育可持续发展促进协会(AASHE)的可持续发展跟踪保持一致, 评估, 和评级系统(STARS)信用以及联合国可持续发展目标(SDGs).

The creation of this document was a University and community-wide effort, informed by more than 450 comments from 教师, 工作人员, 学生, and community members with valuable feedback integrated into the plan.

Guiding principles for the 2021年俄亥俄 Sustainability & 气候行动计划:

• The new plan must provide triple bottom line cost benefit analyses for strategies, to aid in implementation decisions.

Strengths of this plan lie in the expansion of sustainability goals to include issues such as diversity and inclusion in the 人力资源 and 学生生活 areas; in the incorporation of flexible experiential and community-engaged learning laboratory strategies in both the plan and in the implementation process; and in the focus on strategies that simultaneously benefit the triple bottom line of sustainability: people, 地球与繁荣, 现在和未来.

Background

• creating and updating a climate action plan to achieve carbon neutrality
• annual carbon tracking and reporting
• actions to make carbon neutrality part of the curriculum for all 学生
• actions to expand research in carbon neutrality

Planning Process

2021年俄亥俄州可持续发展和气候行动计划是在经过广泛的Planning Process后制定的. 最初的开发始于2016年，制定了指导原则并制定了完成计划的时间表. 尽管不断进步, we extended our process several times, first in response to 教师 requests, then to needs of administrators and to navigate structural changes, and finally due to circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The final planning process timeline included goal and target envisioning, 在两年的时间里，由责任方和公众进行审查，并多次修改, 如图1所示.
